NATIONAL TERRIER CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 6th April 2002

Cairn Terriers Judge

Mr R H J Croyman (Croyanda)

It was a pleasure and an honour to judge the breed at this prestigious Show, and I thank the exhibitors and Committee for making my day so enjoyable.  Thanks also to my two excellent Stewards.  The ring was large with a good surface.

In general the quality of the bitches was superior to the dogs.  Temperaments without exception were very good, a number of exhibits had narrow jaws with very small teeth, also lack of overall bone and spring of rib giving a very narrow outline, coupled with lack of muscle tone contributed to poor movement.  There was also a few light eyes.  In a number of classes I could have awarded more than one red card.

Dog CC & BOB  Wall's Ch. Shearwater Cae De Sonhas, a fine upstanding dog who stood out on the day, well put down, strong head and expression, well balanced overall.

Dog RCC  Waugh's Tribannon Voltaire,  light red in full coat moved and showed well on the day.

Bitch CC   Parker-Tuckers Uniquecottage Celtic Mist, very showy cream, beautifully balanced, moved well, good legs and feet.

Bitch RCC  Fyfe's Andrum Spirit of Love, good size, balanced overall, moved well.

Best Puppy  Catto's Birselaw Billy Fury, a very forward minor puppy in good coat, covered the ground well, one to watch for the future.
